THE MEDIA VOICE OF THE GLOBAL MARINA INDUSTRY

UAE: Two Al Dhafra marinas inaugurated

Sila Community Harbour and Al Fayiyi Island Marina in the Al Dhafra region of Abu Dhabi were officially inaugurated on 15th September. The ceremony was headed up by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan who is supervising the Al Dhafra master development plan.

The marinas form part of a series of marina developments by the Department of Municipalities and Transport, which are being undertaken by Abu Dhabi Maritime, part of AD Ports Group.
Sila Community Harbour features two pontoon piers that accommodate 64 fishing boats and private vessels, a dhow quay wall, middle shore quay wall, ro-ro ramp and a 14m slipway. There are a further 68 wet berths alongside other facilities including a fish market.
The new Al Fayiyi Island Marina includes a 500m long x 35m wide navigational canal, a 220m road connecting the land to the basin and 26 wet berths.
Sheikh Hamdan commented: “Today’s inaugurations mark an important milestone in enhancing the commercial, economic, maritime and logistical capabilities of the Al Dhafra region, elevating its position as a distinguished maritime destination. These development projects contribute to strengthening the local fishing sector and advancing a sustainable maritime community, but they also significantly promote economic diversification and create new investment opportunities in the UAE and the region.”
